On the verge

Don't you love this time of year - those few days - when the trees and bushes have only almost exploded into bright spring green? In a minute, but not quite yet, the streets will be covered in spring, and everybody will talk about Summer's coming. But for now, on the verge of this, we all just hold our breath ...

Inside, a new art journal is on the verge of becoming, with two and a half new pages.

The bill sheet was a gift from Susanne who attended our collage workshop in March :-) Thank you!

A pair of pigeons have made a family right outside our window, can you see her baby beneath her? And the scowling? For the record, I asked permission to take the picture. Of course ...

Contemporary wall art in Design Society Denmark Cafe

Interrupting the art journal for a little news :-)

Earlier this week I made this contemporary wall art for the Danish Design Center. The center is re-opening on Wednesday as Design Society with new interior and new initiatives.

Working on the wall art has been a great design process, developing with Vibeke Linde-Strandby and Nille Juul-Sørensen. The wall is behind the cafe counter and is about people meeting, sharing, relating, benefitting from each others' minds, coming together to make design for a better life. I feel fortunate and grateful to be a small part of this :-)

On the two time-lapses below here you can see the silhouets and words in progress. Thank you, Radic for showing me the app :-)

Inspired ...

I've been fiddleling with art journalling, but it's been quite a while. It was all the way back in 2008 that I made Dear Diary, and I have been trying, a couple of times since, to find my way back. With no such luck.

But last Saturday, during our workshop, one of our wonderful participants, Hanne, showed me her art journals, and I felt something inside me make a small click :-) Hannes books were absolutely gorgeous, and I don't know if it was the happiness of her colors or her delicious choice of imagery, or the fact that she'd made so many pages ...  I was utterly inspired!

After a good night's sleep, I got up Sunday morning, sat by my desk, and worked for 11 hours straight! Journalling through the better part of an old leporello Moleskine (Japanese Album). During this week I made the last couple of pages, finishing it today. At Tiger, I got new inexpensive notebooks, contemplating new art journals ;o)

(Hanne unfortunately doesn't have a blog, if she did, I'd definately be followin') :-)

Workshop #2

»(...) Meget kompetente og inspirerende damer (...)«
»Det eneste der manglede var mere tid :-) (...)«
»Superfed dag! (...)«
»(...) Jeres interesse i, at vi "får" noget med hjem = viden, teori, farver, teknikker. Opgaverne, maden

Workshop images from Saturday. Such a great day with sweet and inspiring people :) More images at Pernilles on Facebook in our Collage Workshop group, plus here og here
Workshoppers asked for a follow-up workshop, so this plus two new workshops are on their way, starting in September.
This Sunday I did some art journalling in an old Moleskine; I will post photos as soon as light permits me to shoot them :) Can't wait for spring to arrive, with tons of light, warm weather and bare feet :)
